Brian Gentil talked with Thames Coromandel Mayor Sandra Goudie this morning to find out what Queen’s Birthday Weekend was like around her district.

Despite being a wet one, thanks to the Severe Weather, it didn’t dampen down the Coromandel.

People had a chance to get out and about before the rains came down and Mayor Sandra was pleased to report, despite a bit of debris, the Coromandel roads were all open after a busy weekend.

Mayor Sandra gave a shout out and congratulated everyone on the Queen’s Birthday Honours list from the Coromandel.

Congratulations to Knights Companion (KNZM) - Dr Maureen Robin Lander, Whangamata, for services to Māori art and to Vicki Louise Masson, Pāuanui, for services to perinatal and maternal health.
Queen’s Service Medal (QSM) recipient Gwenyth Mary Wright, Thames, for services to women and the community
and NZ Order of Merit recipient Joe Davis of Ngati Hei for services to Maori and conservation.

Today is a big day on the agenda for Mayor Sandra as her council meets to deliberate on the TCDC Annual Plan. Brian asked her what will be up for discussion.

Today’s meeting will be recorded and available to view on the website tcdc.govt.nz along with all regular updates and information for locals and visitors.
