Brian Gentil caught up with Thames Valley Rugby Football Union’s Rugby Development Officer Marcus Howie and started with the news that Dan Carter had signed for the Auckland Blues, not the Crusaders.

Marcus was thinking of putting his boots back on as well, but the family suggested that wasn’t such a great idea.

Marcus had some breaking news for junior club rugby. They’re starting up again on Saturday June 20.

Women’s rugby is starting on Wednesday 17 June with everyone and anyone welcome along to training in Paeroa. Gear can be supplied, even boots as long as they fit.
They’ll start with development skills and fun games getting the women up to speed, and that will be followed by four weeks of competition.

The H G Leach Men’s Club Rugby starts on Saturday 20 June and Marcus ran over the Senior A Silcock Shield and Senior B Elders Cup details.

Next week sees the start of the super Ruby Aotearoa Competition. Marcus isn’t that keen on the red card rule coming in, but likes the idea of the golden point if teams are drawn at full time.
