Brian Gentil talked with Coromandel-Colville Ward Councillor John Morrissey from Thames Coromandel District Council, who filled in for the Mayor Sandra Goudie this week.

Brian asked John about the boil water notices for Coromandel Town and what the current situation is. John said they were back to normal, and thanked the local community for their patience. Not only was there heavy rain over the last two weeks but also a repair that needed to be done on the clarifier that ‘muddied the water’, or slowed the process.

Brian asked John about the special celebrations coming up in Coromandel. John explained it was the town’s 200th anniversary of the naming of the town and the district and there were some celebrations planned, especially towards September.

John and Brian touched on some business initiatives, aimed at small and medium sized businesses, as well as a Careers and Employers Expo in mid August that’s not only good for students, but adults as well who might be looking at a new or change in their career path.

Brian suggested checking tcdc.govt.nz for more details.
