Council Matters ,
Thames-Coromandel District Mayor Sandra Goudie joined Brian Gentil on the Breakfast Show this morning. She was on her way to Whangamata for a Community Board meeting and to receive a petition about footpaths from a local resident.
Brian asked about the recent council meeting and for an update on the Shoreline Management Project.
Thames Coromandel Council has been discussing government’s reform into the three water services (that’s stormwater, wastewater and drinking water). Brian asked Sandra what Council decided on this.
Mayor Sandra explained that the Community Services Awards have a new look this year, giving more people across the district an opportunity to be recognised for their work in the community.
Brian and Mayor Sandra also talked about the Community Board meetings and how people have the opportunity to zoom in to watch, go along and also speak if they want to.
Brian asked Mayor Sandra about the Microchip Mondays for dogs in the Thames Coromandel district, with low cost microchipping service at different towns each Monday across August. One was held yesterday with more around the peninsular through the month.
