The Gold FM Rugby Report on Monday morning with Harcourts Gold Star saw Brian Gentil talking to a battered, bruised and pleased Scott Day. Scott played for Whangamata on Saturday in their win in the Senior A competition, helping his side to go through to the final this coming weekend.
Brian started with the Senior B Men’s playoffs in the H G Leach Club Competition with Tairua beating Cobras 33 - 3. Tairua now plays Coromandel at Rhodes Park in Thames this Saturday in the final with kickoff at 12.15 pm.
In the Senior A Competition Waihau and Waihi Athletic both won by default and will play for the Patrons Cup this Saturday. And Cobras take on Whangamata in the McGlinchy Cup final at 2 pm.
Scott and Brian also talked about the Super Rugby Aotearoa game on Saturday afternoon with the Highlanders too strong for the Hurricanes, and the Auckland Blues game against the Crusaders was called off with Auckland staying in Alert Level 3 with the Covid-19 virus at the moment. There’s talk of another series next year which will please a lot of rugby fans, considering it’s like All Black selection games every weekend.
Brian and Scott also talked about the women’s Farah Palmer Cup Competition which is due to start at the end of August, and that it may be delayed a week. And the North V South game that was going to be played at Eden Park may also be affected.
Thanks to Harcourts Gold star, proud sponsors of the Gold FM Rugby Report.
