Anybody interested in getting involved is welcome to attend the Paeroa Society of Arts AGM in the historic Paeroa Borough Council Building at 109 Normanby Road on Monday 24 August at 10 am.
After a successful exhibition from Erritja Gallery featuring aboriginal paintings for sale and demonstrations from aboriginal artists, who experienced many things for the first time when they climbed aboard an aeroplane to travel to New Zealand, the Paeroa Society of Arts is looking forward to their Coloured Clay/Nerikomi Workshop that is being held over two days in August and September.
Other workshops are held annually for members and non-members.
Lockdown gave the society an opportunity to look into redecorating their gallery space and catch up on some maintenance, with more planned.
The gallery displays works for sale by local artists and craftspeople, alongside continually changing exhibitions by invited artists.
The Paeroa Arts Centre provides space for an art studio for painting courses and a pottery room where potters meet weekly. The Thursday Pottery Group welcomes new members to join in and is looking at adding another day in the weekend if interest is strong enough.
