On Friday morning’s Gold FM Rugby Report with Harcourts GoldStar Brian Gentil and Marcus Howie started with a look at the Secondary Schools First XV Semi Finals being played this weekend. There are three great games that unfortunately won’t have anyone on the sideline except team members and the coaching staff due to the Covid-19 Alert Level 2 rules at present. Good luck to all six sides playing for the four positions next week.

Sunday, Marcus is involved as Manager of the Thames Valley Under 23 Squad that has really impressed Marcus, with 40 guys turning up each training session giving it their all vying for positions. While the trial on Sunday would be great to watch, again Marcus said because of the Covid-19 restrictions no spectators are allowed. Early next week the squad will be whittled down to 25.

Brian and Marcus spoke about Tana Umaga signing with the Blues as assistant coach for another year, and then looked at the North versus South game tomorrow night in Wellington, kicking off at 7.05 pm. This is the last chance for some players to secure their spot in the first All Black squad which head coach Ian Foster is announcing on Sunday.

And Marcus and Brian ended with a quick rev up about the Provincial Cup, back again starting next Friday night with some great match ups across next weekend.

Thanks to Harcourts GoldStar, proud sponsors of the Gold FM Rugby Reports, Monday and Friday mornings at 8.15 am on Gold FM.
