Waihi Central School is getting ‘Scrap Metal Happy’ this week. Everyone will be happy if you donate your unwanted scrap metal to Waihi Central School for their school trip fundraiser.

You’ll be supporting the Year 5 and 6’s school camp to Rotorua if you call 863 8709 and book a collection of your waste metal - and it’s free.

Gold FM is supporting Waihi Central School by helping to get the message out so Brian Gentil spoke with Angela Main, principal of Waihi Central School to find out what can be collected and when.

Aluminum, batteries (not from hybrid cars), car bodies, car parts, cast iron, copper, lead, radiators, steel, titanium - there’s a whole list of what can’t be collected too, Angela said.

If you have an old fridge sitting around and you take the motor out - it can be collected as well.

If you’ve got any unwanted items the school would be very happy to take them off your hands.

They’ll happily send a collection team to your property to pick up the items and take them away.

You can book a collection date and time, by phoning Waihi Central School on 07 863 8709.

The collection area includes Waihi, Waikino, Waitawheta, Golden Valley, Waimata, Waihi Beach, Bowentown, Athenree Gorge and Athenree.

The Scrap Metal Collection finishes on the 19th of September … that’s this Saturday.

What a great way to clear out the scrap metal from your place for free!
