Brian Gentil asked Jan Johnston - Donor Relations Coordinator for the New Zealand Blood Service a couple of curly questions about whether peoples’ blood types change and whether males and females have different sorts of blood types that are more common when he spoke to her about the blood service visit to Waihi. Then it was down to what they use the blood for, who can donate, how long blood can be kept in storage, and how they got on with Covid-19 with donations.
Brian also asked the very important question of ‘Does it hurt? He also answered the question saying it’s no worse than pinching yourself. And Jan explained the whole process of giving blood, from getting some details, through lying on the bed and giving blood to having a cuppa afterwards is about 45 minutes or so.
Jan covered the times and venue for tomorrow and also reminded listeners how to contact them for information and to book a time.
