Media Release: Waikato District Health Board

Waikato District Health Board is urging people to put the brakes on and stay away from Beach Hop if they’re feeling sick.

If you’re attending over the coming days and you do start to get cold or flu-like symptoms, a free pop-up testing site will be operating on Beach Road near the Whangamata Marina between 10am and 2pm from Thursday to Saturday. Anyone attending Beach Hop who starts to get cold or flu like symptoms is encouraged to get a test.

The site, which will be run by Te Korowai Hauora o Hauraki, will be drive-through and also allow walk-ins.

If you have any concerns or queries about your risk of COVID-19, you’re encouraged to call Healthline on 0800 358 5453 to get advice on getting a test.

There are also a number of designated General Practices across the Waikato which offer testing, but appointments need to be made in advance. A full list is available on the Waikato DHB website.
