On the Gold FM Football Report on Friday morning with Carters Contractors, Brian Gentil caught up with Rudy Sas, who was able to give us a live update of the English Premier League match between Manchester United and visitors Liverpool. The score was 1 - 0 to Man U about 20 minutes into the first half. Check the end of the report for an update heading into half time, and a fulltime score too!

Rudy touched on the junior and college games this weekend with early starts for the year 7’s and 8’s and the First XI. Good luck with your games this weekend.

The focus then moved to the Waihi teams and the Waikato Bay of Plenty Competitions. Both teams are playing away this weekend. Rudy said the Senior B side is playing West Hamilton United with kick off at 12.30 pm at Bremworth Park in Hamilton. Waihi is currently second equal on the table, with West Ham in fourth, right behind them. Brian mentioned the number of goals Waihi Reserves have scored so far - 19, which shows they are a team that could win their league if they keep it up.

Waihi Senior A side are traveling to Hamilton as well for their game due to start at the earlier time of 12.30 pm. They’re playing Claudelands Rovers Vets, who have only had the one win so far this season. Waihi is currently in second spot with no losses Rudy said (3 wins and a draw). This game is at Galloway Park. Both the Waihi sides would love to have you sideline cheering them on if you can get there.

The Wellington Phoenix have had a couple of draws lately and need wins urgently if they’re ging to get into the top 6 playoffs Rudy says. Their match on Sunday is against the table top Melbourne City side, who Brian thinks should be due for a surprise loss. And who better to dish it out than the Phoenix! Rudy and Brian also mentioned their game next weekend, against Western United who are only one point ahead ogf them going into this weekend.

The English Premier League has a winner for 2021, Manchester City. Brian asked Rudy what happened to his team Manchester United, with their loss to Leicester 2 - 1 on Wednesday sealing the deal for Man City.

And just after the report this week, Brian mentioned that heading towards half time Liverpool had scored, making it 1 all.

The final score was 4 - 2 … to Liverpool! Sorry Rudy. Richard James will be smiling I’m sure.
