The Gold FM Football Report with Carters Contractors on Monday morning had Rudy Sas talking about the juniors and College games first, with a win and a loss respectively. He said they unfortunately lost 8 - 0, although the scoreline is not a true reflection of the game. Waihi held their own fairly well for quite some time but with only a reserve or two to call on fitness might have been a factor.
Waihi Senior side played at Gallagher Park in Hamilton against Claudelands Rovers and had a good win 5 - 3. Both sides are still training indoors at Waihi Event Centre while the pitch at Morgan Park gets some attention and regrassed as there are no lights at Waihi College.
Rudy and Brian then focused on the Wellington Phoenix and their draw 2 all with top side Melbourne city. That still leaves them in 8th place with a game against Western United on Saturday.
The English Premier League was next with Liverpool keeper scoring the winning goal for them after going all the way to the other end of the field for a corner kick. He managed a beautiful header into the back of the net and was mobbed by his teammates.
Manchester City beat Newcastle 4 -3 while West ham and Brighton drew 1 all. Brian mentioned Friday’s match between Manchester United and Liverpool, with Rudy conceding his favourite team just didn’t really get it together and their 4 - 2 loss was probably a fair score … unfortunately.
Brian didn’t rub his side’s win in any more and moved on to the FA Cup and four times runner up Leicester City’s win 1 - 0 against Chelsea. Rudy and Brian were pleased to see a crowd allowed back to Wembley Stadium, even if they weren’t allowed a full stadium, for the 140th FA Cup final.
