The Gold FM Rugby Report with Harcourts Gold Star on Monday morning began with Scott Day from Thames Valley Rugby Football Union mentioning how good it was to see so many out playing junior rugby. Secondary schools had another weekend of fairly good conditions heading towards winter for their games, which is great for the spectators as well. Scott says the results are up on their website.
Scott and Brian honed in on the Thames Valley H G Leach Club Competition checking out the Senior B results first. Coromandel continued on their winning way while Mercury Bay had a big win.
The Senior A Competition also saw a big scoreline for Cobras and there were a couple of close games as well. Waihi hosted Hauraki North last Thursday night under lights.
Brian then talked to Scott about the first week of the Trans Tasman Super Rugby Competition with some high scoring games like in the local competition, and a couple of nail biters as well. All the New Zealand sides took the honours although it wasn’t a one way street for the Crusaders or the Chiefs with both teams winning by just a point or two. Scott said the games were great to watch, and while there was talk about the defense sometimes, the number of tries made up for it.
