On the Gold FM Rugby Report with Harcourts Gold Star, Brian Gentil and Scott Day from Thames Valley Rugby Football Union covered everything from junior and secondary school games to the Trans Tasman Super Rugby games coming up.
Scott started with the junior and secondary school games with plenty of action across the district on Saturday morning. Check their website for where and when the teqams play.
The Thames Coromandel Club Rugby Competition with H G Leach has another full round. The Reserve Competition vary in start times so make sure you aren’t late to watch your favourite team … or worse still be late for your own game! All the best to all the sides playing tomorrow.
The Senior A Competition has four games on. There’s a double header in Waihi with the Reserves playing at 12.25 pm followed by the Senior A team again taking on Thames. Waihi and Paeroa are the same with both the Reserve and Senior A teams playing at home. The other two matches see Hauraki North and Cobras battle it out at Waitakaruru, and Whangamata have the home gro9und advantage when they play Mercury Bay. Last time they met Mercury Bay raced away with a 59 - 7 scoreline which Whangamata won’t want to see repeated.
Scott and Brian then checked up on the five Trans Tasman Super Rugby games on across the weekend. Friday night sees the Hurricanes take on the Rebels in Wellington at 7.05 pm and then the Force are at home in Perth hosting the Highlanders.
On Saturday afternoon, as Scott says we love our afternoon games, the Blues come up against the Warratahs at 4.35 pm on their home turf of Eden Park. Then at 7.05 pm the Chiefs fans pull out the cowbells for their home game against the Brumbies, who are coming off a close loss to the Crusaders last weekend. The last game is on straight after this one finishes with the Crusaders traveling to Brisbane to take on the Queensland Reds at 9.45 pm. Scott has backed the Reds for an upset against the Crusaders this week! (Not Brian though)
Brian and Scott will be looking at all the results at 8.35 am on Monday morning.
