Travellers stranded in Melbourne can return home on commercially operated ‘green flights’ commencing (tomorrow) 9 June, as long as they have not been at a ‘location of interest’.
The pause in Quarantine-Free Travel (QFT) with Victoria remains until 7:59pm (NZT) Thursday 10 June.
Currently, there are seats available on ‘green flights’ departing Melbourne for New Zealand.
The cost of booking or transferring to a ‘green flight’ are 100 percent the responsibility of the traveller.
Travellers booked on ‘green flights’ are exempted from Melbourne’s lockdown to travel to the airport to catch their flight.
Anyone flying home on a ‘green flight’ must:
Have a negative pre-departure test taken less than 72 hours before departure. Call the Australian National coronavirus hotline on 1800 020 080 for help finding a testing location. A pre-departure test costs around AU$120 to $180. It’s recommended not go to a free testing site, as their results may not have all the information needed for travel. For more information on pre-departure tests, visit the Unite Against COVID-19 website.
Complete the Nau Mai Rā travel declaration
Complete the health declaration at the airport.
Returnees on green flights do NOT go into managed isolation on arrival in New Zealand. When the travel pause is lifted, ‘green flights’ will end and flights from Melbourne will be QFT again.
More information for travellers is available via the Unite Against COVID-19 website.
