On the Gold FM Football Report with Carters Contractors on Monday morning Brian Gentil caught up with Rudy Sas for the results from all the games played across the weekend.
The Waihi Year 7’s and 8’s who played against Greerton Blue Rovers in their first competition game in the First Division had a good win 10 -3 which Rudy says Coach Richard James will be happy about.
The Waihi Senior Reserves traveled to the South Waikato and played Tokoroa with a lack of reserves unfortunately, which Rudy said may have been part of the reason they lost by quite a margin, 9 - 2.
The Senior Waihi side had a home game and came away winners 4 - 1 against Melville United Rudy said. They are currently 2nd on the table and still haven’t lost this season.
Rudy and Brian then checked out the results of the UEFA Cup games played, with Italy winning the opening game against Turkey 3 - 0, Wales and Switzerland drawing 1 all, and a heart attack on the field to one of the Danish players in the Denmark and Finland game saw a delay to the game and as Rudy said the game should not have been played after that, but did with a 1 nil win to Finland. England also had a win 1 - 0 against Croatia and Rudy’s team, the Netherlands were playing Ukraine during our Football Report with a score of nil all after about 35 minutes.
Rudy gave a bit of a background how the Euro Cup pans out and then went on to let junior football players know that they’ll be starting up their training sessions at Morgan Park on Sunday June 27 at 9.30 am. Boys and girls between 4 and 14 are welcome to join them at their open day.
