The Gold FM Football Report with Carters Contractors on Friday morning started with Rudy Sas inviting 4 to 14 year old boys and girls along to the Waihi Football Club’s open day from 9.30 on Sunday morning at Morgan Park.
Brian and Rudy checked out the Waihi College Year 7 and 8’s next who have a bye this weekend, while the Waihi First XI travel early to Hamilton to play Fraser High School. Kick off is at 8.30 am.
Brian and Rudy talked about the Waihi Reserves side who were up against Putaruru Rangers with the home ground advantage. This game has been postponed after Putaruru asked if it could be played at a later date. They haven’t got the players to make up the team due to work commitments and the like, so rather than just take the points Waihi has agreed to play this game later in the season, good on you.
They will be playing a game at Waihi College at 2.45 on Saturday after organising a friendly with Thames. Get along if you can.
Rudy brought us up to date with the Waihi Senior side and their away game against Waikato Unicol Development, who are one place behind Waihi on the table in third at the moment. This game also kicks off at 2.45 pm on Saturday.
Brian mentioned the good news that Phoenix playmaker and Mexican import Ulises Davila has been named the joint-winner of the A-League’s Johnny Warren Medal. Unfortunately the sad news is that he’s left to play for Macarthur next season. Still, congratulations and a big thanks for his time with the Phoenix.
The UEFA Euro Cup Competition is down to the last 16 and Rudy ran through some of the results as well as the games coming up with Brian.
