Waihi East Principal Briar Scott called into the Gold FM studio to talk about the Waihi Matariki Hikoi which is on this Thursday.

Seven kura (schools) from around the district will join together and meet at the Waihi Pumphouse at 11.45 am on Thursday, July 1.

Briar went through the schools that will be mobilising their pupils to hikoi (walk) from the Pumphouse through Waihi’s Seddon Street. About 12 - 1500 people will join together to sing waiata as they traverse Seddon Street through to the Rosemont Road roundabout before returning back up Seddon Street to the Pumphouse where there’ll be a combined get together (weather permitting).

Everyone is welcome to join the Waihi Community Matariki Hikoi.
