The Gold FM Football Report with Carters Contractors on Friday started with Rudy Sas and Brian Gentil talking about the Waihi College Year 7’s and 8’s side who are playing at home against Otumoetai. Rudy says it’s a different side to the one they played last time and will be a good challenge for the team.

The Waihi College First XI are travelling to take on Hamilton Boys High School White side with an early kick off at 9 am on Saturday morning. The Hamilton school has over 30 teams playing footy which is great Rudy said, but they have to spread the games to different fields and venues, some of which aren’t in particularly great condition. Still it’s the same for both sides.

The Waihi Senior Reserves are heading away to play Waikato Unicol Gold, who they lost narrowly to in the first round 4 - 3. They’ll be hoping to turn the tables and come away with a win after a couple of losses.

The Waihi senior side has the home ground advantage at Waihi College when they come up against Eastern City, but Rudy was quick to add this will be an interesting game as Eastern is known to get a little niggly if things aren’t running smoothly for them. A sideline full of supporters for the local Waihi side would be great, especially with a fine day and 15 degrees - before it drops of course. As Brian says, take something warm, and that applies to spectators as well as players.

Brian and Rudy touched on the quarter finals in the UEFA Euro Cup Competition with eight teams reduced to four by the end of the weekend. Rudy has a couple of countries that he thinks might get to the finals, one being England. Brian is keeping an eye on Denmark after one of their players literally died on the field and was brought back to life in the early stages of the competition. They seem to be a favourite of lots of people around the world because of this event.

And the report ended with a reminder about the juniors training on Sunday mornings from 9.30 am for boys and girls aged between 4 and 14 at Morgan Park.
