The Gold FM Football Report with Carters Contractors on Friday morning started with Brian Gentil asking Rudy Sas what he thought of the hooliganism that was probably the lasting memory of England’s defeat in the final of the UEFA Euro Cup on Monday morning NZ time. Rudy agreed it was totally unnecessary and disappointed a lot of fans.

Brian asked Rudy about junior football during the holidays. Rudy said there was a break at the moment so no Waihi College year 7’s and 8’s games, and the First XI will be up and running again when the third term begins at the start of August. Rudy mentioned the junior coaching sessions on Sundays will start again on Sunday August 2 at Morgan Park.

Brian and Rudy looked at the Waihi AFC sides games this weekend. Both sides are traveling away with the Senior Reserves playing Morrinsville while the Senior A side, who still hasn’t lost this season, is up against Otorohanga.

Brian asked Rudy his thoughts on the vandalism that was done on Tuesday night at Morgan Park with someone taking a bit of effort in removing some bollards to get access to the football field with a vehicle that caused significant damage to the grounds that had been repaired over the last six months and were almost ready to welcome the Waihi club sides back to play on the true home ground! Rudy was gutted and can’t understand the mentality of a person that has caused a lot of grief for a lot of the community that use Morgan Park, not just the football club!

Anyone with any sort of information is asked to let the police know, and they can even call anonymously on the confidential crime line 0800 555 111.

Brian asked Rudy how his son Mason was doing with Hamilton Wanderers. He said Mason has been training with the first team again this week so he’s getting some exposure to the top side and how they work, which is great for his learning path.

Rudy ended with a big thanks to principal Alistair Cochrane, Matty Matich and the team at Waihi College who have allowed the Waihi Club to hold their games on the school’s fields, and also for the help with the team using the gym recently too. It’s been a tough season with Morgan Park out of action for so long, and the pitches at Waihi College have always been beautifully presented.
