On the Gold FM Football Report with Carters Contractors Brian Gentil asked Rudy Sas about the start times for junior football after the school holidays.

Next weekend will see the junior coaching for 4 to 14 year old boys and girls start again at Morgan Park on Sunday August 1 from 9.30 am, and Rudy and Brian were pleased to talk positively about the repairs that Hauraki District Council staff did quickly after the vehicle was driven over the field recently in a stupid act of vandalism.

The Waihi senior teams would love the sidelines full of local supporters for their two home games this weekend.

Both games are at Waihi College, and Brian and Rudy talked about the Waihi Reserves game first. Kicking off at 1 pm they’re up against top of the table West Hamilton United, but coming off a win last weekend and playing well at the moment Waihi might be able to turn the tables on their first round loss to them.

The Waihi Senior team are playing Claudelands Rovers Vets at 2.45 pm. They beat them in a high scoring game in May 5 - 3, and hopefully Waihi can keep their unbeaten record this season with another win this weekend. They’re currently leading the competition, but Northern United are just a point adrift of them with a game in hand. Good luck to both Waihi sides.

Rudy and Brian checked out the great news overnight that the Olly Whites had a fantastic win against South Korea, with Burnley’s Chris Wood knocking the winner in at about the 70 minute mark. Rudy was proud to say he played for Hamilton Wanderers in his early years, as well as Cambridge.

Brian and Rudy touched on the upset overnight with Australia beating Argentina 2 nil. Brains aid it’s one game of 90 minutes, history counts for very little and anything is possible … go the All Whites and Football Ferns!

Brian asked Rudy about his son Mason who is playing away with Hamilton Wanderers Reserves against Auckland United kicking off at 12.30 pm at Keith Hay Park with the first team playing at 3 pm, also against Auckland United.
