The Gold FM Football Report with Carters Contractors on Monday morning began with Brian Gentil asking Rudy Sas about the junior football start dates after the school holidays. Rudy was pleased to say the junior coaching sessions for 4 to 14 year old boys and girls is able to return to Morgan Park on Sunday from 9.30 am, after a vehicle was driven over the newly sewn and ‘debugged’ pitch recently.

Waihi College has an exchange tournament this week against Katikati and other sides which they’ll be looking forward to after a break.

Brian and Rudy checked out the two Waihi senior sides home games next. Waihi Reserves came up against Westen Hamilton United, losing 4 - 3. As Brian and Rudy said, they lost 8 - 0 in the first round to this side so they did exceptionally well.

Waihi Senior A had their first loss of the season, going down 1 nil to Claudelands Rovers Vets. That still leaves them second on the table behind Northern United Humblebees, who have a game in hand and are two points ahead of them. They come up against each other in a couple of weekends time in Waihi.

Rudy and Brian both watched the Olly Whites game against Honduras on Sunday night and were disppointed for them after a 4 - 3 loss. There were a couple of ‘soft’ goals against New Zealand but they still have a chance of progresssing depending on whther they win their next game and who in their pool loses in upcoming games.

And Brian and Rudy commented on the Football Ferns at the Tokyo Olympics, who unfortunately came up against World Champions USA after they’d lost their previous game, and definitely didn’t want to lose two in a row. The final score was 6 - 0 to the USA.
