The Gold FM Football Report with Carters Contractors on Monday August 9 started with Brian Gentil asking Rudy Sas how his trip to Eden Park to watch the All Blacks was like on Saturday night. Rudy said it was a great atmosphere with extra seating needed for the full stadium and well worth going to.
Brian and Rudy checked out the results of the Waihi College sides next.
The Year 7’s and 8’s played away against Katikati. They only had 10 players due to illness and were lucky to be able to ‘borrow’ one of the Katikati players, but still lost 4 - 1.
The First XI had a home game against Rototuna High School from Hamilton, coming away with a draw.
Waihi Senior Reserves traveled away to play Cambridge, unfortunately going down 3 - 2. This leaves them mid-table with a home game this weekend against Tokoroa.
Waihi Senior A side had the home ground advantage in their top of the table game against league leaders Northern United Humblebees. After their first round draw Waihi stepped it up and claimed a 2 - 0 win, overtaking Northern United on the table. They have an extra game to play so Waihi needs to win their last two games, and hope Northern United lose in at least one of their last three games. Waihi come up against third placed Melville this weekend.
Brian and Rudy looked ahead at a couple of days coming up. The Thames Valley Girls have a tournament on Wednesday 18 August at Waihi College, and the Thames Valley First XI tournament is in Katikati the following day, Thursday 19 August.
