The Gold FM Rugby Report with Harcourts Gold Star this week started with Brian Gentil asking Scott Day, Rugby Development Officer with Thames Valley Rugby Football Union, how things were as a Thames Valley Emerging Player with no games at the moment. Scott said he’s running each day and going through a fitness programme but is looking forward to getting back on the field.
Scott mentioned there were no games of rugby nationwide again this weekend, but it’s for the greater cause. He said it really couldn’t come at a worse time of year with the Heartland Competition delayed, representative rugby on hold and an upcoming tournament or two being affected as well at this stage.
Brian said at least the ‘on then off and now on again’ Rugby Championship is able to be played, with the third Bledisloe Cup and second Championship game between Australia and the All Blacks now set down for Saturday September 4 in Perth. Scott said he’s really pleased as with the lockdown on, there are a lot of people who’d love to see some good games of rugby. He’s looking forward to watching the rest of The Championship games which will now be played in Queensland, once South Africa and Argentina get out of isolation.
