The Gold FM Rugby Report with Harcourts Gold Star began with Brian Gentil asking Scott Day how he was feeling after a long run yesterday, and the answer was ‘a bit sore’.
Scott, the Rugby Development Officer with Thames Valley Rugby Football Union, is playing in the Thames Valley Emerging Players squad and is working on some fitness as he looks forward to getting on to the field once the alert Level has dropped enough.
Brian asked Scott when we might see some local games and rugby in general around New Zealand. Scott said with Alert Level 3 there isn’t a lot of change but when Alert Level 2 kicks in we will hopefully see some local rugby, including the Thames Valley Swamp Foxes. Scott said don’t quote him but if things go to plan they could be travelling down to his old stomping ground in Masterton to play Wairarapa Bush on Saturday September 11. No promises though he said. We’ll hold you to that Scott!!
Brian and Scott talked about Ardie Savea being named the All Blacks Captain, with newly named vice-captains Brodie Retallick and Beauden Barrett helping out.
Ian Foster has been in talks with Roger Tuivasa-Scheck just before the All Blacks left for Perth last week, not about joining them, but what it is like to be on the road for 2 to 3 months. Roger has had experience and shared some advice on the highs and lows.
And Brian mentioned the Crusaders have signed former All Black halfback Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi on a one-year deal. Scott reckons this is a good move for Te Toiroa, as well as the Crusaders.
