On the Gold FM Rugby Report with Harcourts Gold Star on Friday morning Brian Gentil and Scott Day, the Rugby Development Officer with Thames Valley RFU, checked out the representative games coming up across the weekend, with games for the Thames Valley Under 16’s, Under 18’s and the Secondary School Girls sides. Good luck to the local teams.
The Heartland Competition is back on, although under slightly different circumstances as Scott explained; all these games are being played without spectators to abide by the Alert Level 2 Covid-19 regulations.
The Thames Valley Swampfoxes take on Wairarapa Bush in Masterton and Scott says they go into the game as favourites with the TAB, but the home side won’t be an easy beat. Scott and Brian ran through the other games as well.
The NPC games this weekend sees Waikato up against Canterbury as well as a Ranfurly Shield game on Sunday between holders Hawkes Bay and their neighbours Bay of Plenty. Scott thinks Hawkes Bay will be too strong and will hold on to the log of wood.
Brian and Scott checked out the All Blacks line up against the Pumas, with quite a few changes to the team. And Scott thinks South Africa will come back with a win over Australia after their loss last week, especially knowing that if they lose this weekend the All Blacks will have won the Rugby Championship, before the two sides have even met. That’s got to be a big incentive so we can expect a good game from the Springboks.
