The Gold FM Football Report with Carters Contractors on Monday morning started with Brian Gentil and Rudy Sas talking about the All Whites, who looked very smart in their all black strip, beating Curacao in a ‘friendly’ game on Sunday 2 - 1. Rudy said they have another game on Wednesday against Bahrain.
The UEFA Nations League Cup final was about to get underway during the Football Report and Rudy thought France would be too strong for Spain.
Rudy and Brian ran through some of the results of the games played in the UEFA World Cup European Qualifying results, with England winning 5 - 0 against Andorra, and they are back on the field again on Wednesday against Hungary, who lost 1 nil to Albania on Sunday.
Rudy mentioned how it can be tough on the players with two games in four days playing for their country and then heading back to their respective clubs to play next weekend in the English Premier League, which took a break for the internationals to be played. There are some good games coming up this weekend including Manchester United against Leicester City, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford host Chelsea and Liverpool and are away at Watford.
Brian and Rudy talked briefly about the Labour Weekend 2 Day Tournament that Waihi hosts each year, and that they will know more of the make up of the weekend after the government announcement on Tuesday about alert levels heading towards the 23 to 25 of October and how that may affect some of the teams that usually take part.
