Holiday makers urged to minimise waste

Posted 27 December 2018 by Gold FM in Council Matters and Environmental

Holiday makers on the Coromandel this summer are being encouraged to think carefully about ways to minimise their waste as the population spikes and Kerbside rubbish collection increases across the district.

Between December and January last year Kerbside collection in the Thames Coromandel District jumped by more than 260 tonnes. Food waste is also included in that figure.

“A little bit of planning could go a long way to seriously reducing that number. It’s not only good for the environment but also good for people’s wallets,” says Bruce Hinson, TCDC Group Manager Infrastructure Delivery.
