Man receives serious burns at Kennedy Bay

A man in his 20’s was flown to Middlemore Hospital’s Burn Unit with serious burns after he was reportedly pushed into an open fire at Kennedy Bay in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

The man received serious burns to his buttocks and lower legs. He got himself to a creek to cool down his burns before an ambulance crew arrived and began treating him with saline.

The Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to transport the injured man to the hospital for further treatment.
It’s thought a group of people had been celebrating the New Year and drinking before the incident.
