Rhino readies his club for new rugby season
Brian Gentil invited Mark Ryan (Rhino), President of the Waihi Athletic Rugby Football Sport Union in for a catch up about the club's activities and plans for the upcoming rugby season.
The Waihi club had a great season last year with the Waihi Premiers taking out the Thames Valley Club Finals Competition. It's time to stop the celebrations and get down to the hard work.
While numbers at training have been OK the club would like to see a few more turning out now that summer is coming to a close.
A couple of pre-season run outs have warmed things up and the first official game of the season kicks off this Saturday at home for the senior sides at the Waihi rugby grounds on Kenny Street from 12.30 pm for the B's and 2 pm for the A team. They're up against Waihou who have been in Ireland for the last three weeks.
The club rooms have benefited from some upgrade work in the off season with more planned for showers and changing rooms to cater for the growing popularity of women's rugby.
