Waikato Police dispatched the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter just after midnight on Monday 13 August to assist in the search for a lost tramper near The Pinnacles in the Coromandel Ranges.

The tramper, a female in her twenties, had become lost on a day tramp to The Pinnacles. She managed to find a hut to take shelter in and called a friend to say she was lost.

The rescue helicopter was called in to search the area where Police believed she was located.

After only a few minutes of searching, the woman was located. She was airlifted by the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter, cold but uninjured, to Thames.
