Thames Coromandel Road and Water Update

Posted 5 June 2018 by Gold FM in Council Matters,Weather,Environmental and Road info

After heavy rain over the long weekend, Puketui Road, Hikuai, is closed until further notice as the ford is still in flood.

All other Thames Coromandel District roads are open as are all state highways. Work is continuing on the Thames Coast Road (SH25) to repair damage from the 5 January storm, with stop-go or traffic lights to manage traffic past work sites. Please take note of the speed restrictions and drive carefully.

Due to the bad weather over the weekend, a large amount of silt and debris has been washed into the stream that supplies water to Coromandel Town.

Therefore the Coromandel Water Treatment plant is processing water at a reduced rate, leaving treated water storage reservoirs very low.

TCDC is asking all residents and visitors to Coromandel Town to kindly conserve water as best as they can while their treatment plant recovers to improve the water storage levels at our reservoirs.
