Waihi artist paints Eden this weekend
Waihi artist Mike Morgan will be in Eden this weekend ... Mt Eden that is, for the Artists In Eden gala art event.
Mike will be one of about 40 recognised visual artists who will draw and paint from the Essex Road Reserve, Mt Eden from 10 am this Saturday, March 16.
Artists In Eden is Auckland’s longest running art event of its kind and will be celebrating over 30 years of art, artists and music this weekend with the opportunity for visitors to talk to the participating artists and watch works being completed ready for a live auction at 2.30 pm.
The artists taking part are asked to to paint their personal rendition of the mountain, Mt Eden, which gives the village its name.
A carnival atmosphere will paint the area with live music from popular jazz ensemble Nairobi Trio, children's art activities including balloon sculptures, the opportunity to win a Stanley Palmer print in the annual raffle, two very special collectors' item collaborative sketch books to bid for at auction, and the chance to purchase Eden Arts' commemorative 30 Year book, along with the live auction of art to raise funds for community arts initiatives.
Mike will finish his vivid piece called 'Family Picnic in Eden' which depicts Mt Eden in the background with Mike and his muse - his hot rod Lucy centre stage in Eden (where else?).
Don't forget your fig leaf Mike!
