Waihi Beach Community Board speaks up about KiwiCamp facility

Posted 4 March 2019 by Gold FM in Council Matters,Environmental,Podcasts and Business

Brian Gentil spoke with Allan Sole, the chairman of the Waihi Beach Community Board, about the KiwiCamp facility Western Bay of Plenty Council has earmarked for Waihi Beach. It consists of toilets, showers, cooking and washing facilities, not just for freedom campers but others as well.

KiwiCamp facilities are portable pay to use camp services for travelers that usually offer parking, showers and toilets, laundry facilities, waste recycling station, water filling station, secure power points, WIFI and sometimes dump stations.

It was going to be placed at what’s known as No. 4 car park, near the roundabout at Bowentown, but for a number of reasons it was then decided to place it at the Waihi Beach Community Hall and Library car park, which has caused some concern.
